Summer 2 2015

Where has this year gone? We've reached the final half term of the year.

We're starting with camping with Wildside at Hemyock...we're hoping for some sunny weather!

Our theme for this half term is a European Regional Study where we will be comparing and contrasting Wellington with Italy. We shall be finding out about countries in Europe, discussing the history of Britain and Italy and comparing with life today. Towards the end of the half term we will be having a tasting week of British vs Italian food.

Music Composition Day

At the start of July the Year 4's will be having a Music Composition day where they will be putting together a performance for the rest of the school.

Spellings - the children were given their spellings at the end of last term and as normal will be tested on these each Friday.

And finally.....thank you for your continued support to both ourselves and the children in Year 4  - they are such a wonderful year group and we enjoy everyday with them. If there are any problems please come in and talk to us.

Welcome to Year 4 - Hufflepuff!

Hi Year 4 Hufflepuff,

Welcome to Hufflepuff's page.

I can't believe it's the second half of the Spring term already and only just under 5 weeks until the Easter Holidays! That means we have got lots to do in a short time.

Our Theme for this half term is "View from a Railway Carriage." Within this we will be primarily concentrating on Art and exploring different artists and their versions of Railway themed work.  The children will be able to create their own artwork allowing their imaginations go wild!  We shall also explore the history of trains, famous train journeys, train fares, timetables, movement and music of trains.

Don't forget you can follow Year on Twitter

@Year4WPSchool   I try and put on a few photos and bits and bobs each week so you might see a photo of two of what we're up to.

Homework

Spellings will be tested on a Friday morning; homework given on a Friday and expected back in the following Friday.  We still expect the children to be reading at least 3 times a week and whilst many of them can read fluently, the focus of our work in Year 4 is comprehension skills. If you would like any guidance on the sorts of questions to ask please do pop in and see us.

Our School Value for this month is: Integrity (February)

Mrs Doidge will be giving you lots of different tasks to try and think outside of the box!

Our Core Values which the whole school is focusing on are:

1) Developing a sense of self worth and understanding of self and others.

2) Managing one’s moral and social development

Please do come in if you have any questions or worries.
