Welcome back to 2019!

We hope you had a fantastic Christmas and a super New Year.

We are excited about going to watch 'The Snow Queen' at the Brewhouse on Thursday 17th January and also our outdoor learning day on Tuesday 29th January.

We have an action-packed term ahead of us, starting with a new topic finding out about chocolate. We will learn about the history of chocolate and where cacao beans are grown. This topic fits nicely with out science topic of 'states of matter', where we will be looking at melting, evaporation and condensation.

Our English will be woven into our topic and the children will be writing recounts in the forms of diary entries and newspaper reports and narratives based on the book 'Gregory Cool'.

In Maths we will carry on looking at multiplication and division including formal methods of laying these out, factor pairs and multiplying three numbers together.

In addition, we will be starting weekly French lessons this term.

PE will be on the same days as last term: Hufflepuff -  Tuesday and Wednesday

Gryffindor -   Thursday and Friday

Reminders:  Homework is given on a Friday and expected to be given back the following Friday and Spellings are tested each Friday. Please remember that children need to record four reads in their home school contact back and this can be any book, whether it is a school book or a book from home.

As ever, if you have any questions or worries, please either see one of us in the playground at 8:45am or after school. If this isn't convenient please email/phone the school to make an appointment.

Thank you for your continued support.

Welcome to Year 4 - 5th September 2018

Welcome back to the autumn term. The children have made a super start and settled well to life in Year 4.  Our topic this half term is: Light and Sound.  Our PE lessons are Fridays for both classes + Hufflepuff on Thursday and Gryffindor on Tuesday. Please leave PE kits in school if you can. Clarinets lessons will start on Wednesday 12th of September and carry on for the whole year.

Class expectations

As last year, we expect the children to learn their weekly spellings (test on Fridays) and continue learning their times tables (up to 12x12 by the end of Year 4). Spellings can be practiced online using Purple Mash. Login details have been stuck into home school contact books.

We expect the children to read 4 times a week (or more) and record this in their home-school contact books, ideally with a sentence about what they have read or what they are enjoying about the book.

If there is anything you would like to discuss with either of us, please try and catch us before or after school or make an appointment through the office.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Jo Harris and Mr Matt Bettridge
