Welcome to Matilda class!
Hello and welcome to the Year 3 Matilda class page! We will be sharing with you regularly about the news and events that we get up to in school, as well as provide notices for upcoming events.
During the mornings Mrs Gladstone-Smith and Mrs Skeet work with the Year 3 classes. Our PE sessions are on a Tuesday with Mr Parsons so please make sure the children have their PE kits with them at all times in case of an impromptu lesson. The children will continue their swimming lessons on a Monday during Summer 2. This will take the place of the Monday PE session for the current half term.
We have now finished our topic 'Are Bug's Important?' The children all seemed to enjoy this topic as we had lots of opportunities to do some fun activities linked to plants and animals. We all had great fun making two enormous minibeast hotels which are situated at the back of the field.
Our topic for Summer 2 is 'How can we make living here better for everyone?' This topic will have a specific focus on geography. As a part of this topic we will be learning about the geographical changes within Wellington, such as the changing environment, changes to local amenities and new housing developments. We hope to take lots more opportunities this term to get the children outside for some of our learning now that the weather is getting much better.
Please see the link to a copy of the parents information afternoon (held at the start of the year) at the bottom of the page. There are also lots of photos of the children learning and having fun in Matilda class which we would love to share with you!
We are still very keen to hear from any parents who would like to volunteer to hear children read during the school day or have any other skills or talents they feel may help us out in Year 3! Thank you to all of the parents who already help us out in Year 3.
If there is anything you would like to discuss with myself then please do not hesitate to pop in and see me.
* Please remember to bring a waterproof coat, change of clothes (or trousers) and outdoor shoes/wellington boots on these days.
