Hufflepuff and Gryffindor

Summer 2

Welcome back to the final term of Year 4!

Our topic this term is ‘European Regional Study' which involves looking at lots of European Geography and History.

In Maths this half term, we will be continuing to solve lots of mathematical problems and reasoning questions. We will also be learning about statistics, looking at different graphs and charts. We will revisit many things that we have looked at this year and ensure the children are ready to continue their mathematical journey into Year 5.

In English we will be continuing with Creative writing and ensure that the children are improving their stamina, content and quality with what they are writing.

PE days for both classes will be the same. Kipper’s: Monday and Friday for Hufflepuff and Gryffindor. However, please make sure that your child has their PE kit with them every day in case of any last minute changes.

Many thanks for all your support this year. We look forward to having a great last half term!

Miss Govier and Mr Foster.

Welcome Back

February 2017

We hope you have all had a lovely half term break.

Our theme for the first half term is: A view from a railway carriage? This topic involves lots of art and design work, using our school value of Creativity.

PE for both classes will be on a Monday and Friday, delivered by Mr Parsons, Mr Foster and Mr Doyle.

This half term in Maths we will be doing work based on decimals and money, as well as revising our arithmetic methods and times tables up to 12x12.

In Literacy this half term we will be linking some work to our topic, as well as writing in non-fiction and doing plenty of work based on books (especially during book week).

We will expect all of the children in Year 4 to read at home at least 4 times.

Homework will be set on a Friday and that will have the date on it that we expect it to be returned. The homework could be literacy or numeracy based, linked to our topic, or a longer creative piece.

If you ever need to speak to us, please do not hesitate to come into the classroom or get in touch.

Have a great half term

We shall start our Maths off with all things fractions; equivalent fractions, counting in fractions, adding and subtracting fractions and finding fractions of numbers, which is a big chunk of what we have to learn in Year 4.

In Literacy this half term we will be linking some work to our topic, as well as developing our creative writing ability.

Spellings sheets will be sent home on the first week and we expect all the children to learn the number they have been set - this will be determined on their spelling ability.
