Notes about Wellington in Bloom
There is an opportunity for the children to complete their own individual entry for this at home which some of the children have expressed an interest in completing.
‘Children may create and enter a growing project of their own – it could be an individual plant like a sunflower or vegetable plant, or a collection of flowers or vegetables in a small pot or container. They should present this along with some record of growth – eg a diary / poster or leaflet, which may include charts, photos and/or drawings.
The judging for this normally takes place towards the end of the Summer Term and we will be given a date for this nearer the time.
During Eco Club we work on lots of different activities which may include recycling, being more eco friendly, gardening and learning about our school environment.
We spent a lot of the Autumn Term working on projects where we make things from natural or recycled materials to sale at the Christmas Fair. Then in the Spring Term and Summer Term we spend a lot of our time working outside on a project for the Wellington in Bloom competition. We also add in some different activities as we go along to add a little variety.
The children are welcome to wear their school uniform or bring a change of clothes. It may be useful for the children to have available a coat and a pair of wellington boots or outdoor shoes for the sessions where we go outside.
