We hope you enjoyed the half term holidays and you all had some rest. The children have worked extremely hard over this year and we have seen some incredible progress. We are all very proud of the achievements so far this year.
This half term's topic is about the well known poem 'The Lady of Shalott'
We will be exploring how poetry impacts both the reader and the writer. We will be looking at the history of the poem and the emotive language within the narrative poem.
Hello and welcome to the Year 6 Akela and Bagheera class page. This page is designed to share any news or events that the children are taking part in as well as an opportunity to share children's achievements. Year 6 is a year with challenges and responsibilities as well as excitement and enjoyment - we expect all children just to do their best!
PE will be on a Tuesday morning with Mr Parsons. Swimming will take place on Wednesday afternoons in the first half terms of Autumn, Spring and Summer for those children who have not yet met the required standard. Any that have will be taking part in a PE session with Mr McFadzean.
Expectations are raised in Year 6 and we expect the children to be reading at least 4 times a week, if not every day. Our aim is that children will find a love of reading which will broaden their imagination and challenge their thinking as well as vocabulary! The children are aware of what they are required to record in their Home School Contact Books - new book titles to be logged in the back of the book and evidence of home reads in the front. We would also like parents to sign in books when children have read or have been read to. A copy of our Reading Charter is stuck in the front of their Home School Books.
Any questions or queries please do not hesitate to note in their Home School Books or pop in for a chat. We will more more than happy to make an appointment to discuss any queries.
